Post of Executive Director of the European Wergeland Centre

The European Wergeland Centre is being established in cooperation with the Council of Europe on the basis of a Norwegian
initiative. The Centre is located in Oslo and is set up to promote the work of the Council of Europe and its Member States in
the fields of education for democratic citizenship, human rights and intercultural understanding.

The European Wergeland Centre will act as a resource centre for the Member States of the Council of Europe and it will carry
out and support research in the relevant domains, provide in-service training and support for the professional development of
teachers and teacher training professionals, as well as serve as information centre and a platform and meeting place for relevant
educational actors. The working language of the Centre is English.

As Executive Director you will be responsible for a wide range of key issues, in particular the development of the Centre’s
profile on the basis of its mission and statutes, the management of the Centre’s financial and human resources including the
recruitment of staff as well as the day-to-day management and supervision of the Centre's activities. Managerial competence, experience of leading international/intercultural groups, experience and expertise in teacher education and in the tasks of the Centre will be key assets to fill this post successfully.
